Short update

Thank G-d, all was well with Mitch and the doctor as a result of his ECG.  Sometimes I have to wonder whether they requested this test because all the doctors in the organization are partners and performing extraneous tests brings in more money.  In any event, the only thing that can stop the surgery from happening on Monday (in 4 days) is if his COVID test comes back positive.  We'll know on Sunday, but hopefully, it's highly unlikely.

He had his last pre-op consultation with the dr. yesterday (I went with him) and were told what to expect.  Seems the first 2 weeks at least are going to be the hardest and with a lot of pain.  He will not be allowed to move his shoulder as his body needs to adapt to the metal inside it, but to avoid blood clots and keep circulation moving, he'll need to do exercises by moving his arm from the elbow down and squeezing on a ball.  He was given a "smart sling" and we had a demo on how to put it on and off.  He's disappointed that he won't be able to lay tefillin for a few weeks either (too much arm movement).  I find it interesting that his doctor is giving him Percoset for the pain, with instructions to "stay ahead of it. Even though the bottle says 1 every 6 hours, you should take 2 every 4."  I wish my doctor had told me that!  That's what I did anyway, but I ran out sooner than I should have.  Thankfully Mitch has a much higher pain level tolerance than I do so hopefully it won't be too bad.  Either way, I am truly dreading the next few weeks.

As for the truck, it needed a new fuel pump ($1200).  Hopefully I can pick it up tomorrow (Friday).  Not looking forward to driving it again, but such is life.  Gotta get back in the swing of things and out of my comfort zone.
