Mitch had his shoulder replacement yesterday (Mon. Jan. 18, 2021). When the doctor called me after the surgery, he said that it was beyond belief how bad the condition of his shoulder was and he did everything he could to remove the screws, the bone spurs and everything else causing the arthritis, and that Mitch will be so happy with his new shoulder. It's kind of interesting how Mitch didn't complain all this time. I know that before my hip replacement in August, I had been in a lot of pain for quite a while, and it made locomotion nearly impossible. I really don't know how he did it! Kudos to him!
During surgery, they gave him a nerve blocker to prevent pain for about 24 hours, so yesterday was fairly ok. But now that it's worn off, the pain is settling in, as are the side effects of the oxycotin. He's very stubborn and still trying to do everything himself (despite the fact that he either can't or shouldn't). He's only seeking my help when he absolutely can't.
But... whatever. We'll get through this and I have total confidence that he won't damage his shoulder in the interim. He does seem to recognize his limitations now.
Closing words.... I'm exhausted.
