First time in a LONG time seeing a friend!

The last time I spent any in-person time with anyone other than Mitch was last April (2020).  Now that rules are being relaxed and it's proven that the vaccine is mostly safe, I drove to Zephyrhills to my old "haunts" to visit with our good friend Ellie.  We've been keeping in touch somewhat via email, but it was just such a good feeling to be able to hug each other and spend time at a table.  I brought a nice salad and she provided the crackers, cheese and wine (although I drank hardly any since I had to drive).

Meanwhile... as of the last writing, Mitch was in the 2nd week of his 3 week class.  Unfortunately, he failed the test and was not invited back for the 3rd week.  However, he had an epiphany that he has been under-medicated for his ADD for the last 2 years, and when he increased the dose on the 2nd to last day, he had amazing results.  His new boss understood and immediately scheduled him to take the course again, giving him a 2nd chance (and the dr. increased his dose).  So he is out of town again this week.  They are breaking it up since this weekend is Memorial Day, so he'll be home either late tonight (last time he arrived home at 10:30 pm on Friday) or Sunday.  He's home all of next week (although will probably be working Tues-Fri), and then returns to Atlanta for the last 2 weeks of the class.

During that time is also his great-niece's bat mitzvah (very small, intimate ceremony with masks & social distancing) which we will both be attending for the weekend: me going to/from Tampa; him from Atlanta.  Normally, we would not be going because neither of us are comfortable being on a crowded plane but since Mitch's sister has stage-4 lung cancer and is not doing well, he's afraid this may be his last chance to see her and is therefore making the exception to travel.

I wish I could spend more time up there but things are very tight financially and I can't afford to rent a car to get around to visit anybody nor for a hotel for the extra days.  Hopefully there will be another chance later in the year to travel north again.
