Birthday

Today is my 63rd birthday, and I am very grateful to be alive and for all the blessings G-d has bestowed upon me.  I hope to live the rest of my life with meaning and purpose and to perform as many mitzvot as possible.

Looking back on how I celebrated my birthday since being on the road:

- the first year (2015), we were in Arcadia, FL and a bunch of friends took us out for dinner (https://mitcheryl-rv-journey.blogspot.com/2015/03/special-birthday-day-261.html)

- 2nd year (2016): Asheville, NC: a group of friends (also RV'ers from Mitch's work) invited us to their campground where they made me a surprise party (https://mitcheryl-rv-journey.blogspot.com/2016/03/birthday-party-day-631-yr-2-day-266.html)

- I don't have anything listed for 2017 so it was probably very uneventful.  We were in Livingston, TX where there was noone around (https://mitcheryl-rv-journey.blogspot.com/2017/03/another-attempt-at-hamentashen-and-my.html_

- 2018: not exactly sure what we did as the blog post isn't clear,  We probably went out to eat: https://mitcheryl-rv-journey.blogspot.com/2018/03/purim-truck-day-1356-year-4-day-261.html

- 2019: in Zephyrhills, FL.  Had Chinese takeout.  Nothing special (https://mitcheryl-rv-journey.blogspot.com/2019/03/birthday-day-1719-year-5-day-250.html)

- Last year, 2020: I don't have anything recorded and I truly don't remember what we did.  We were in Zephyrhills, Mitch was unemployed, and the pandemic had just started.  So we probably just did takeout.

* as an aside, I do recall very fondly, that our daughter, Jessica, made a very surprise visit for my birthday.  I'm fairly certain it was in Washington, NC (in a campground on a marina).  I don't know why I can't find that on my blog (maybe I'm not searching correctly?  It doesn't seem like something I wouldn't have mentioned).

Other long ago birthdays that stand out in my memory:

- my 10th, when I felt very deprived because it was a milestone and my sister was having a tonsillectomy on that day and took away my attention!

- my 16th when my parents (who were very poor and must have spent months saving up), took me and a group of friends out for dinner (Cookie's Steak Pub).

Other than what I've already mentioned, nothing else really stands out in my memory.

And for today, March 11, 2021, nothing really seems eventful.  Our very generous daughter gave me a gift certificate for a lovely meal (still in the pandemic stage, so going OUT to eat isn't an option) but we will order in something much better than Chinese takeout (it will be sushi, and we already bought some saki).
